Job Summary:
The Utility Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of security programs and measures to safeguard utility infrastructure and assets. This role involves assessing, analyzing, and mitigating potential security threats, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and managing emergency response plans. The Utility Security Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance security protocols, and provide training and guidance to employees on security best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive security programs and strategies to protect utility infrastructure and assets.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security threats and recommend appropriate countermeasures.
3. Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements related to utility security, including physical and cybersecurity.
4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and enhance security policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
5. Oversee the implementation of access control systems, surveillance systems, and other security technologies to monitor and protect utility facilities.
6. Develop and implement emergency response plans to address security incidents, including coordinating with external agencies and utility partners as necessary.
7. Conduct investigations into security breaches or incidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
8. Provide training and guidance to employees on security awareness, incident response, and emergency preparedness.
9. Stay updated on emerging security threats and technologies, and make recommendations for continuous improvement of security measures.
10. Prepare and present periodic reports on security metrics, incidents, and initiatives to management and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field. Relevant certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
2. Proven experience of at least 5 years in utility security management or a similar role.
3. Strong knowledge of utility infrastructure and operations, including physical and cybersecurity aspects.
4. Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in utility security, such as NERC CIP, ISO 27001, and NIST frameworks.
5. Demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing security measures to mitigate identified risks.
6. Proficient in utilizing security technologies and systems, such as access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and video surveillance.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide effective solutions.
8. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
9. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
10. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling sensitive information and security-related matters.
